I am writing my thesis which involves compiling a number of different word documents into one. I have modified the multilevel headings to give me heading numbering. I have been using figure caption numbering with success until 120 pages when after pasting in a section, rather than having a figure 5.1, it has figure 1.1. It is fine if I move it two levels to 5 rather than 5.1.1. annoyingly under the same situation a few levels up, it works.
