hi chicabean,

Reinstalling Office is usually not necessary and is often ineffective. Renaming Normal.dot, though it fixes many problems, doesn't address everything. Try the additional approaches suggested here:

http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...artingWord.htm
for various troubleshooting steps that will help you track down (and hopefully solve) the problem.
