I am trying to eliminate the page numbers in a Word 2007 document. I go to inserts and page numbers and get the drop down menu, but the remove page numbers option is suppressed. Does anyone know what I have to do to get this function lit up and usable? Thanks.

Not sure about getting the function useable, but you should be able to simply select the page number and press Delete.

Deleting one page # is usually sufficient to delete all of them in the same Section, and possibly across all Sections, of a document.

It worked. Thanks very much, macropod. This forum has been very helpful to me on two occasions now.

The remove/delete function for page numbers probably only works reliably if the headers and footers are "straightforward"; I'm guessing it helps if there is only one section and neither "Different first page" nor "Different odd and even" is selected. I haven't tested this thoroughly though.
