Guys, I've been going NUTS with this... I want to have all pictures have Layout|Position|Absolute|Page -- default is "Margin" I already figured out how to set the "text wrapping" in advanced tab to "tight". But this one is driving me NUTS! Thanks, CJT, West Palm Beach, FL.
Actually "Paragraph" is the default... but there must be some place to change this. Bottom line is I want to drag and drop images into Word and have them stick (not move) when I add text etc. Thanks for your help! ![]() Last edited by cjt; 01-10-2012 at 08:36 PM. Well, looks like MS cannot even figure this one out. How's that for "great product" support? They say they know it can be done. Now at level II support desk. WOW. Maybe some guru here can beat them to it???

You can't set a default value for "Position" in Word.

Hi it is currently set to "Paragraph" so there must be a way to change this? This is a very annoying feature property.
Please advise. Thanks, Chris |

I get that same option (absolute vertical position relative to paragraph) selected by default when I insert a picture that is not "In line with text." As I wrote, this can't be changed.
But note that having Word insert objects, including pictures and text boxes, "In line with text" by default is usually easier anyway.

I check "relative position" for both horizontal and vertical and Move opbject with text.
I hit "ok" and then I open up the same figure, layout, advanced and magically, the image defaults to absolute position. I am in word 2010. Where are the defaults chosen??? |

As I have stated earlier in this thread, there is no way to set a default placement (wrapping) for all objects in Word.
Why a chosen relative position changes to absolute after you save and reopen the document, I do not know.
