Default Deleting a style from 1 doc

The Help feature on my Word 2004 for Mac says:

• If you delete a paragraph style that you created, Microsoft Word applies the Normal style to all paragraphs formatted with that style and then removes the style definition from the template.•
This isn't clear. Before I delete a style I created, I want to know whether Word deletes that style from all my docs where I have added that style or from just the doc I'm in at the moment.
