Is there any way to automatically number each table so once you insert a new one from Excel the table number automatically appears on top?
OR Is there any way to label all tables with say "table X" then have a macro that automatically removes the X, starts at "1" and increments each table by one each time? thanks, |

Hi Angalis,
What you're describing suggests a table caption. You can tell Word to insert a caption before or after a table, via References> Insert Caption, but it won't do that automatically. Having inserted them, though, if you then add/delete one before an existing one, Word will automatically re-number them. The re-numbering isn't dynamic, though, and you'll need to do something such as a print preview or a print to force the numbers to update.
