Question Word problems

Hi!

I use MS Windows XP Professional (SP3) and MS Office 2003 (v. 11).

I am having problems with MS Word.

First, it rakes a long time to load a document. Second, when I close the document, I get a message that the system has encountered a problem and asks permission to send an error report. If I choose "Don't Send," it closes the file.

Whatever the problem is, the real problem is that is affecting other applications. I cannot use Acrobat to convert the document to a .pdf. file.

Please help.

Thank you.

Doctor T

Please tell the specification of your computer such as Speed of CPU Total of RAM Hardisk Drive.

Try to use disk cleanup utilities such as Ccleaner. Then Defrag Harddisk drive using Defraggler.

Using Windows update to update the securrities and patch.

Hi DoctorT,

The first thing to try is a repair of Word, via Help > Detect & Repair. It is unlikely that the running CCleaner or a disk defragmenter will have any effect. If the repair doesn't work, see:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921541
and:
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...artingWord.htm
for various series of troubleshooting steps that will help you track down (and hopefully solve) the problem.

Dear Nattasiray and Macropod:

Nattasiray: I have an Intel Pentium 4 processor (3.80 GHz, 3.50 GB RAM) and a 465 GB hard drive of which 35 GB are used.

The disk is not fracmented and I keep up with updates.

Macropod: I agree. FYI, in another Forum someone suggested two possible problem sources: macros or the global template. I'll try to repair Word following the path you suggested..

Thank you both.

Doctor T.

Hi DoctorT,

Your latest reply suggests maybe you've cross-posted to another forum. In that case, please read: http://www.excelguru.ca/node/7 and provide a link to the cross-post.

Dear Paul,

I deleted the Normal.Dot Template and it now works.
