Default Need to put two highlight buttons on toolbar in different colors

I do a lot of different color highlighting in my documents. I want to put two or more highlight buttons on the toolbar with different colors.

It's easy enough to add a second instance of the highlight button to the toolbar. But if I do this, whatever color I select in the first highlight button is also shown in the second highlight button.

I need a way to make each highlight button display a different color.

Any ideas?

If macros are supported in your version of Word, you should be able to create macros that apply the desired highlighting color.

Thank you for that, Stefan. I appreciate it. Word 2011 for Mac does support macros - I will see if that solution works.

Thanks again

It's really not a complex task with a macro. Try the following two macros:

Sub CustomHighlightOne()
Selection.Range.HighlightColorIndex = wdYellow
End Sub

Sub CustomHighlightTwo()
Selection.Range.HighlightColorIndex = wdBlue
End Sub

Of course, you'd have to change the values for HighlightColorIndex to suit your needs.

See http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm for assistance with installing macros.

Once again my thanks; it's totally above and beyond the call of duty to provide such detailed help to a complete stranger online. I'll have a go with those macros and let you know how they work out.
