I finally did solve the problem.
Before I created the thread, I already renamed Word's options and data folders in the registry. Without any result.
But afterwards, I also renamed the add-in folder, and that fixed the problem!!

Can you explain in more detail what you did?
Were Word's setting in the registry wrong? If so, how did you know what to fix it to?
Or did you just rename them randomly and let Word fix itself?
I have the same issue and have tried everything, including uninstalling, wiping everything to do with MS Office from the registry, and reinstalling. I still have the same problem. Start Word, Go to open a file, and crash.
