I didn't say to use {QUOTE _Ref293660174 \# 0}; I suggested {QUOTE 'Caption' \# 0}. If you've got the field code display toggled on, that would be equivalent to:
{QUOTE {REF _Ref293660174 \h} \# 0}
where the field brace pairs (ie '{ }') are created via Ctrl-F9.
