With any update provided to document, I must keep in mind with update to it's extracted copies. There is waste of time and big human factor risk, so why not to automate it!

I have one full document (ALL) and two extracts from this document (X and Y).
Based on table of content I want to set two print out layouts from ALL (I - VII):
- X pint out layout, referencing to: I; III; V
- Y pint out layout, referencing to: II; IV; VI

Is there any MS Word function to manipulate with print out layouts for table of content?


Or should I build a macro?

If you want to create separate documents containing:
X: I; III; V
Y : II; IV; VI
why not simply bookmark those portions and use INCLUDETEXT fields in your X & Y documents to link them to the bookmarks in the source material?

I have tested proposed solution, it works well. But I do not always have an access to the server with extracted documents, so it is recommended to keep all data in one document.
Is it possible to create named layouts for X (I;III;V) and Y (II;IV;VI) to printouts?

No, that is not possible, since page #s, etc. would all change. You could, however, use a PDF driver to 'print' your X & Y ranges to PDF files.

How about table of contents, is it possible to select content to print out?
Or maybe I should use sections?

Not really - a Table of Contents is a single field. To print part of it, you'd need to unlink it (e.g. by selecting it and pressing Shift-F9), but then it would no longer function as a Table of Contents.
