I have limited VBA skills. I have created an MS Word form that I want to send out to gather information. Editing on the form is restricted so data can only be entered in the fields. The form is saved as a Word Macro-Enabled Template (.dotm) as I want to have a simple message box pop-up on open to instruct the user how to use the form. I can create the VBA and run this on demand to show the message box but I can't work out how to automate this. When the recipient open the form I would like the message to display. I also need to know how to 'manage' the macro warning that will undoubtedly pop up on the user's screen.
Windows 7 64bit SP1 Office 2013 Professional All advice gratefully received - thanks. |

You cannot force people to use macros, so if you don't need to (and they don't appear to be essential here) then don't use them. Put the instructions in the covering message instead.
There is no way I would open a macro enabled document from someone with 'limited VBA skills' and allow the macros to run. Most others who are security conscious will do the same.

Thanks for your reply gmayor.
The form I'm using will be posted on a Company Intranet SharePoint for which access is strictly controlled and restricted. All documents are tightly screened before being allowed to be uploaded. The security considerations of opening a macro-enabled document apply regardless of whether the author is an expert or novice in VBA. I asked a simple question of how to auto-enable a standard message box, not to be lectured on security, the aspects of which I am fully aware. I have received a solution to the problem and once again thank you for taking the time to respond. |
