You would only need an Excel workbook if you're changing the actual characters or whole strings to something else. Even then, you don't necessarily need to use Excel or an external file; For changes that are always the same, it's possible to encode the Find & Replace strings into the actual code.

You need to say clearly what it is you're trying to achieve. So far, your posts have been quite inconsistent about that.
