I don't understand what is happening. Using 'Go Advanced' I click the paper clip, browse for Invoicebook5x which is the 4 pages (about 470kbs)n in M.S.Pub.It downloads and seems to be doing what it oughta. I will try again. I've just tried to upload it and get the msg. 'invalid file *******.pub' What am I doing wrong? M.R.L. |

When you click on the paperclip symbol, a list of accepted file types appears on the screen. the .pub format is not one of them. Using Publisher, you can use Save As to save the file in .doc or .docx format, both of which are acceptable. Alternatively, you can use a program like WinZip (if you have it) to create a .zip archive of the file.

If you open the file in publisher and choose Save As, like I said in my previous post, you can choose different file formats. The docx and doc formats are used by Word.

here we go again. The numbers you see have only been typed in as I believe the change of format doesn't take in the background which you need for numbering. Also the tiop may look a little blank because the graphics are missing. Here's Hoping M.R.L. |

You still haven't attached a useable file. This time it's a .txt file. What's wrong with attaching one of the file types I specified???

I've cobbled something together based on your text file and the image you originally posted. See attached.
The file uses a macro to print the receipts, four to a page with the number sequencing as you described. Another macro is included to allow you to easily re-set the number sequencing. To access the macros, open the document and press Alt-F8. You'll see two macros - ReceiptPrint and Reset. Double-clicking on on of them will run it. The ReceiptPrint macro asks you to provide the first and last numbers. The macro has some internal logic to ensure that, regardless of what you input, the first number will end in 1 and the last number will end in 0. Thus, with four receipts per page, whatever is printed will be in multiples of 20 receipts, spanning multiples of five pages. The minimum you can print is 20 and the maximum is basically whatever your printer can handle. If you print receipts 1601-2000 in one go, you'll get a 100-page printout. The first quarter of the number range will be printed in the upper left corner, the second in the upper right corner, and so on. The numbering on the pages is handled by some field coding. Pressing Alt-F9 will toggle this on/off. I realise the mock-up in my attachment isn't going to match whatever you're using. You can copy/paste your own content into the document and delete mine (just remember to preserve & relocate the fields first!!!). The Reset macro allows you to reset the starting # without having to produce a printout.

Many thanks but when I double click on 'receiptprint' I get a message that these macros are disabled. Refer to online help or host application to determine how to enable. It looks to be exactly what I'm after. But being the novice that I am afraid this macro world is new to me. So, please how do I enable them M.R.L. |

Go to Developer|Macro Security and check the 'Disable all macros with notification' option. If you can't see the Developer tab, go to File|Options|Customize Ribbon and ensure the Developer option on the RHS is checked.

When I click on attach. it goes into Word 2007. There is no Developer/Macro Security and I can't see File/Options. Am I being stupid or blind? M.R.L. |

See the instructions for Word 2007 here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/wo...010173052.aspx
For Word 2000, go to Tools|Macros>Security and set the Security to Medium.
