Text position in merged table cells

I think I recall that earlier versions of Word put the text of merged cells on the same line but maybe not. In any case it should give users that option.

The behaviour hasn't changed. As for whether there should be an option, you could suggest that to Microsoft. Who knows, they might add it to a future version...
