When I merge two cells in a Word 2010 table, the text in the merged cell appears in a vertical column. I'd like the text to be on one line with a space between each word.
To be specific, I want to merge First Name cells with Last Name cells and get Joan Green or John Brown inside each merged cell instead of Joan Green or John Brown Is there any way to do that? Thanks. |

You will have to adjust the formatting post-merge. There is no switch/option to change the merge behaviour.

thanks.
I think I recall that earlier versions of Word put the text of merged cells on the same line but maybe not. In any case it should give users that option. |

The behaviour hasn't changed. As for whether there should be an option, you could suggest that to Microsoft. Who knows, they might add it to a future version...
