It is hard to diagnose if the mouse works fine on other applications and I don't know enough to help much but to me it sounds like a system issue related to the Virtual Machine setup. This webpage gives a clue that it might be worth checking the version of the mouse controller too if trying a different mouse doesn't solve it.
