Default Puzzling behavior by Window shape in [Walls, Shell and Structure]

I'm creating a house floor plan and have started by creating walls. When I try to connect a Window shape to a wall shape, the Window shape automatically slides halfway over the wall shape. It should just connect up to the edge of the wall, but instead it is halfway over it. The size of the wall shape does not change.

I know that I can work around this by extending the wall by half of the window width, but I'd prefer to not do that. Can anybody tell me why the Window shape behaves this way and how can I get it to work the way that I want? Aside from this forum, are there other ways to investigate how shapes work?

Thanks!
