I was not going to respond to this topic because I have no experience beyond version 2010. Having said that, 2010 did not have an "area calculation" option. When I needed that data in Visio, I had to use AutoCAD to calculate the area and transcribe into Visio. So, unless Visio has updated this particular topic, I think you may be out of luck.

However, hopefully another poster may provide more positive information.
