determine location of object via calculation

hi
is there a way of placing an object at a location on a visio drawing based on a calculation.
for example

imagine a ruler, 0-10, and the object is given a value of 8. I would like the object to sit 8/10ths of the way along the line

is this at all possible I'm using visio 2010
