Question Help I'm in Publisher Hell

I have today used publisher for the very first time and felt rather proud of the poster I had created, then when I tried to email this poster to someone the problems started, I ran it through design checker and think the solution would be to make the poster smaller (as the pictures are coming up as low resolution) I have tried the way of going to page settings and reducing the size but still the same, I don't want to do this poster all over again as it took ages to do, but I am losing the will to live at the moment Any suggestions please? be aware I am not very technically minded!!I created the original poster in publisher 2007 and have updated my version of publisher, there is an option for me to put a file onto publisher but when I try and do this it says it's already on publisher!!
