Hi All,
Bear with me (first post). I have an unusual issue I cannot find the answer to. It could be expected behaviour but could also be a bug? I have added "total slack" to the GANTT chart using format-->slack checkbox. It behaves as expected showing me the total slack I have . However the strange behaviour is for summary tasks. The total slack for the summary only seems to tie to no particular meaningful date in the plan (no task has either a start or finish on that date). I've attached a screenshot and highlighted the summary task affected. The total slack tasks are the green lines on the GANTT. I've inserted the total slack column also which you can see is non zero for the offending summary task. When I click on "bar styles" the slack item is for "active tasks" from "task finish" to "free slack". Am i just misunderstanding the representation of total slack in MS project? Any help greatly appreciated - Thanks! All tasks are "auto scheduled" and "as soon as possible" and the project is auto calculated. MS project standard 2013 Windows 10 64 bit Thanks! |

I'm guessing your question is why is the bar on task 9 not 8 days? The bar is drawn to Free Slack - not Total Slack. If you want the bar to match the total slack - change the bar definition.
