Is there no possibility to show date scale, when zooming out? I can't see any reason not to, as there is still enough space to show the data.

Also, in the resource usage, it shows all the tasks of each resource. Can this be collapsed so I only see a list with resource names?

You can change the labels that appear in the timescale by right clicking at the top of the Gantt chart in the timescale area and selecting Timescale from the shortcut menu. The set the label as desired.

Regarding the Resource Usage view - there is something amiss. You should see triangles to the left of each resource's name allow you to collapse the assignments up to just show summary data for the resource.

Do you have a filter applied in the second screen shot?
