Hi,
I think i understand the purpose of leveling in a project file....i'm currently setting up a level of effort estimate. after finishing the schedule, i noticed that i have several tasks with overallocated resources....leveling all tasks should take care of this, i thought. i clicked Level All (using MS Project 2013) and it took away all the resource conflicts, the total project dollar amount is the same, and the project is ending on the same date as before. great.....but then i noticed some of the tasks and their information being a bit odd: for example, one of the tasks that was scheduled for 10 days, starting on 4/1 to 4/15 is now showing as 10 days, starting on 4/1 to 5/14, the cost of the task remaining the same. can someone explain that for me please? why is it showing as 10 days, when the duration is clearly more? is it essentially saying that during the 4/1 to 5/14 time frame, 10 full days worth of work is being done? |
