If you have used Resource Leveling, Project will allow different resources assigned to the same tasks to start at different times.
The difference in task colors is the difference between manually scheduled and autoscheduled tasks. You can resolve differences in assignment start times through the Task Usage view. Look at the Start and Finish dates.
