I'm not sure what you mean by "the first task." Are the resources assigned to other tasks and that is why you have staggered availability? I'm guessing you are using Resource Leveling which is delaying the task? Review your leveling options and check the option "leveling can adjust individual assignments". That should allow the resources to switch to the task as they become available.
