Unable to open 2010 file saved in 2007 format

I have run into a problem opening a file that was created in Project 2007, modified in Project 2010, and then saved in Project 2007 format. When I attempt to open the file in Project 2007, the message "This file was created by a newer version......." appears.

All versions of project are updated with the latest fixes/service packs.

Is there a solution to this?

Are you still able to open it in Project 2010? I'd try opening it in 2010, do another Save AS to the 2007 format.

Did that, twice. Same result.

Project 2007 will open the file if it is saved in Project 2003 format. Found that out later in the day. So there is a work around but the process does not seem to work as it should.

Sorry, I cannot duplicate this. I assuming you haven't added anything to the files while opened in 2010 that Project 2007 doesn't recognize (inactive tasks, manually scheduled tasks).

On a copy of the file, open in 2010, Save AS XML and try opening in 2007. It is possible that repeated back and forth passings has caused some corruption.
