We have a project plan that contains about 2,000 rows. It would be very helpful to split the Gantt view horizontally, similar to how a spreadsheet in Excel or a document in Word can be split. Our goal is to see two different sections of the Gantt spreadsheet at the same time. Is there a way to do this? Thanks.

You can split your screen (Windows > Split for 2007) but it won't accomplish what I think you are looking for. In Project, when you split your screen, you see detailed information in the lower pane relating to what task you have selected in the upper pane.
However, all is not lost. Open a second window of the same file (Window, new Window) and then arrange the windows. I hope this helps. Julie |

Thank you for the suggestions, Julie. After some experimenting, we found the following approach to be almost what we needed.
1. Select any column in Gantt view (indicator column is least intrusive to us) 2. Window, Split 3. Click anywhere in lower window 4. View, Gantt Chart Notes: 1. Each window can be scrolled independent of the other. 2. As long as one column is selected in the upper window, all rows appear in lower one. 3. Changes made in either window are reflected in the other. Hope others find this useful. |

Thank you for posting detailed information about what works for your scenario. I'm sure others will also find it helpful.
