I am running Windows 7. I installed Office 2007 in order to use Outlook 2007. I thought I might as well install the other components, but I don't want to use them except occasionally, SOLELY AS NEEDED. I have retained my installation of Office XP except for Outlook, and all components work just fine when launched from the start menu.
I rather strongly dislike the "Ribbon" interface (to state it mildly), which makes simple tasks difficult, adds substantially to my stress, and impedes my productivity. (Life is hard enough.) I have set the File Association for .doc files to Word 2002 (Office XP). Same for .xls files (although in this case, i occasionally have need for more rows & columns than in the 2002 version.) However, I'm unable to associate .ppt files with Powerpoint 2002 (SP3). It persistently launches Powerpoint 2007. I've tried every possible way to reset this from "Open With" and Control Panel-Default Programs. It simply refuses to reset the file association to my preferred version of Powerpoint. Can someone please help me, or am I condemned to working with "the Ribbon". Thanks Last edited by TreeDoctor; 10-30-2011 at 08:14 PM. Reason: Added important detail that I have both versions installed. |

i do use powerpoint 2007 and 2010, and i am able to open a ppt file with both versions...
Try creating a new user account. If it works in the new user account, then the old user account may be corrupted. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...5-d98dbe96e327 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...ses-by-default |
