make a square and fill it
make a circle
drag the circle on top of the square

No... its a little more complicated than that. You have to be able to join the two object together some how by a segment. Drag the doughnut shape down into a sheet, then edit the shape and covert to freeform. After you highlight the object, you will then know what I'm talking about.
