Hello, I'm trying to set up new corporate master slides, and I was asked to do whatever I can to make sure the "reuse slides" feature works properly because we've had major formatting issues in the past. We always want the slides to convert to the destination formatting so we don't click "keep source formatting". The trouble is that the font colors get all wonky, and so does the alignment both on the slide and within a text box (i.e. top, middle, bottom).
Is there something I'm missing, for example a setting under File, Options that would help the formatting change to the new master styles? I'm using Windows 7 64-bit with PowerPoint 2010. TIA |

I just realized that when I insert a slide using the "reuse slides" option it's actually creating a new master slide that doesn't jibe with the real master (or the source master for that matter). Is there a way to prevent this from happening? I want the new slides to convert to the new master style.

I think I figured out the problem!!! I'm posting the answer(s) just in case anyone else has the same issue:
In order for the format to transition properly, the master slides need to be named identically. If the original slide’s layout was modified at all from the original slide's master, for example if a placeholder was resized, the formatting gets wonky after importing. So to help that, before importing them select all slides in the left panel of the original file and click “Reset” on the Home tab. Probably best to Save As at that point because Reset changes stuff. Then, import the newly saved file using “reuse slides”. One more thing... My old master had a right-aligned slide number footer, and the new master has it centered. After importing, the page number doesn’t always appear. To fix this, click “Slide Number” on the Insert menu. In the header and footer popup box, on the Slide tab select “slide number” and Apply to All. I hope this will spare others the same pain I've been going through ![]() |
