Default In Master Slide, floating text cannot be deleted.

Hello,

I am having a problem with some "floating" text that cannot be deleted when in the Slide Master view. When I click on it, it disappears. The text is "Slide Number" and it appears at the top left of the slide - half on, half off the slide. I have unchecked the Slide Number box. It only appears on two of the slides in the Slide Master view.

Thank you for any help.

Select any shape (NOT THE TEXT IN IT) and then KEEP pressing TAB until the shape in question is selected . Then press DELETE. Does that work?
