Non-Interruptible video?
How do I make a Video play out without user interruption?
I have set a previous slide with a Hyperlink to automatically play the slide with my video on it then move on to the next slide. Works fine. However while the video is playing, clicking, or in my case touching the screen resulted in the video pausing. I managed to remove this pause action in "Animations" by adding a "Play" animation on its own and removing the one automatically inserted to pause. NOW when screen is touched or clicked the video starts to play from the start each time. HOW can I stop this???? I'm using the presentation in Kiosk mode for visitors to a Museum to select and watch a number of videos so need the selected video to play from start to finish without the threat of interruption by prodding fingers etc.!!(at which point it moves to my next menu slide). Alternatively, and if the above is not possible, can I add a hyperlink to the video clip (playing fullscreen) to return to a selected slide rather than the pause or restart options? Hope you nice people can help? |

Select the video (in edit mode)
INSERT >> Action You will probably see an action set of "PLAY" (This is different to the PLAY animation)Set this to NONE and see if that helps. |

Perfect!.... but uncovered a new peoblem!
Thanks John that’s done the trick perfectly!!
However whilst implementing your fix I noticed that after my video clip has ended and moved to the next slide, which is a copy of the first slide with hyperlinks to slides 2,4,6,8 that contain my video clips, I cannot seem to select the same slide / clip a second time. All I get is a blank screen that moves to the next menu slide after the 5 seconds I entered in the “advance slide” timing box. Playback for the video clips is set to “Automatic” and I have also set “rewind after playback”. Animation is set to “Play only” and Action is set to “None” as suggested. Any ideas? * This was happening before your “fix”. I just failed to notice it until now. |

I was just going to say (But you beat me to it) This isn't because of the fix it's a long standing design feature (bad design)
You need to either Make the slide with the video a one slide custom show and link to that. OR Insert a blank slide just before that slide. Set IT'S transition to auto zero seconds and make the link to this slide. |

Yipee!!
Thanks Again John!!!!
That blank slide fix also works a treat!! I could even have the Clip title on that slide before it starts. I'll also have a go at the Custom Show later see how that goes! If Your ever in Alnwick Northumberland check out the Bailifgate Museum, that's where the presentation is headed!! ...they owe you a coffe!!! (at the very least!) Cheers Colin |

Strangely enough my partner was in Northumberland (Berwick and Morpeth) last week judging a tourism award for 'Visit Northumbria' (She's Durham County Executive Support Member for Regeneration and Economic Development which includes heritage.)

Small World!
Small world, as they say........ But I wouldn’t like to paint it!
We are actually a small Liverpool based company that do AV Productions, installations and Interactives etc. We usually use separate programmable players for this sort of thing but they had an old touchscreen with embedded PC at the museum that I promised we could do something with for them f.o.c. Our kiosk and other interactive programming we usually outsource (about 1 a year) if you’re interested? Although now you have spilled the beans on this PowerPoint stuff.........! Our Facebook page might be an interesting look to see what we do? https://www.facebook.com/SoundconceptAV (Website is crap and miles out of date!). |

We only spill SOME beans. Most of out paid work is XML and vb programming for multi Nationals to create custom commands and ribbons.

Move on bean?
Can you spare just one more bean?
Is there a way, whilst my video clip is playing full screen, to manually (click or Touch) move to next slide (one of my menu's) or to another slide via hyperlink etc?... bearing in mind the other settings that stop it pausing, re-playing or going blank on 2nd play that you so kindly helped with previously. Just in case the visitor gets bored of the clip they are viewing! Thanking you in anticipation and promise I wont pester you again after this! Colin |

If you covered the whole slide with a rectangle set to 100% transparent and no line and gave it a hyperlink >> Next Slide.....

Tried that.
I tried that but doesn’t seem to work while video clip is playing full screen.
I tried it as "an action" and also as a straight “Hyperlink” to next slide without success. I even made sure I brought rectangle to front. ? |

It won't work if you select "full screen" (this is a bug really) but it should if you stretch the video to fill the screen and then DON'T tick full screen
