2007 does support XML ribbon code but NOT context menus. You need 2010 / 2013 for that.
The best documentation is the book by Martin, Puls & Henig http://www.amazon.co.uk/RibbonX-Cust.../dp/0470191112 It is for 2007 but is worth it's weight in gold (good thing as it isn't cheap)
