Making imported objects behave like native ones

I copied a visual object from outside powerpoint. In order to import it in a ppt drawing, I did a "paste special", choosing the enhanced metafile picture option. I did an ungroup twice as well, as this seems to be recommended on several forums.



On the result however, there is no way to edit text. F2 does not react. The text box options in the format dialog are greyed out. How can I obtain an object that behaves like a native ppt shape?

Also, is there a way to import shapes like this is done is Visio? How does it work?
