You cannot animate an Excel object by column.
Two possible (not perfect) workarounds 1. Cover each column with a PowerPoint shape and give the shapes a disappear animation 2. Cut the object and paste special as an EMF Ungroup twice and you should be able to animate the individual parts. Of course it is no longer an Excel object which may be totally unacceptable.
