I'm trying to get one set of animations to occur simultaneously while another set occurs sequentially. I prepared a screenshot to make my intentions clearer. The first picture shows the actual situation. A bunch of objects move and then a bunch of objects appear and disappear. The second image is manipulated to show what I would like to achieve. A bunch of objects move whilst some (most) objects appear and disappear sequentially.

I found a tip online that says to start all the animations at once and then use delays to get them to play in the right order. That's pretty laborious but it does work.
