Default Editing points in Powerpoint 2010

Hi, I have just joined this forum and need some help as I have just upgraded from Office 2000 to Office 2010 (home premium version). In the old version, when I right clicked on the shape outline a menu box popped up allowing me to make a curved or straight line on my shape. Now, when I right click the line, the only thing that happens is a new point is added to the line and no menu box pops up. Can anyone tell me how I change a straight line to a curved line in the 2010 version of Powerpoint as I am finding it very frustrating to work with the new version of Powerpoint.

If you first choose edit point and the hover on a line (cursor looks like cross with dot in centre) and then right click and QUICKLY release the button do you see a menu?

Hi, JohnWilson

Thanks for your reply to my question. You solved it for me by using the QUICKLY word! I was obviously not releasing the click quick enough before and now it is working just fine. Thank you so much for your help.

Glad to help but it really wasn't one of MSFT's best ideas!

I couldn't agree more! I really hate what they've done to Microsoft Office programs. I don't find them anywhere near as simple or satisfying to use.

Generally I like 2010 but not this particular feature. Not a fan of the look of 2013 though.

Hi. I can't comment on 2013 as I haven't seen it. I've been living in the ark until recently when I got rid of XP and 2000. I'll stick with 2010 and Windows 7 until Microsoft stops supporting them, as I'm sure will happen as with all the other versions. Not happy with the way things are going with Microsoft as they will probably change to 1 year licensing to use their software. I may look at Linux as it works in a similar way to Windows and still gives access to the Internet. It also offers free software similar to Office. It all depends on what happens with Microsoft as I dislike being forced to buy products all the time because they change their methods. They need to remember that not everyone can afford to chop and change to suit their whims and if there are free programs offering comparable software then people will soon let their wallets make the decision for them. I'll get off my soapbox now and say thanks again for your help.
