How do I get bullets and text to change color together?

I'm using an old presentation and editing the page by deleting and retyping. The problem that I have encountered is that as I change bullet symbols they seem to disassociate themselves from the text as far as the color is concerned. I can't find anything that allows me to change bullet colors. The new ones want to be black even though the text on that line is yellow.



What am I missing?
