97-2003 IS the old ppt format and it does not support the new equations.

Ooops, thanks John for the advise.
I missed read your initial advise. I thought I was suppose to save in ppt. Will try with pptx and see how it good. Thanks very much for your prompt response. Will certainly save me quite a bit of time editing the slides.
