Default Continue Auto Numbering Throughout Entire Presentation

If I have some numbered items using the auto bullets and numbering function, how can I make it so that if I want to add a numbered item on one slide, the next slide's numbers will update too. For example:

On Slide 1
1. Something
2. more of something
3. and then some

On Slide 2
4. Stuff on slide 2

5. more stuff

If I were to add an item to Slide 1, I get this result:

On Slide 1
1. Something
2. more of something
3. and then some
4. I added something

On Slide 2
4. Stuff on slide 2
5. more stuff

I want slide 2 to update to this, automatically:

On Slide 2
5. Stuff on slide 2
6. more stuff

Thoughts?
