Default forgotten powerpoint password

Hello and greetings to all.

I have made brochures using powerpoint 2007 and saved these files as slide show ppsx, after making it password protect to prevent editing by others.

Unfortunately, I have forgotten the password and I need to edit the brochure and having tried all possible password and combinations in vain, I am stuck.

I googled for password recovery but they are all paid software.

Any ideas on how to recover or are there any free password recovery tool?

Thanks & Regards

I think your best option is to study up on and use a hex editor.

I don't think discussions on password cracking are a very good idea BUT so you don't waste your time I wouldn't spend too much time on trying to use a hex editor. Despite a lot of inaccurrate info on the net it's really not simple to change the password in hex.

Agreed that we should not spend any more time on this subject that is the main reason I encouraged THEM to research it.

Thanks John

It's OK I did understand your reason.

However the site you linked to is typical of the misinformation. Trust me the normal user cannot "Simply edit the modify password in a Hex Editor". We had a client last month who had wasted literally days trying before asking for help!
