I use bookmarks extensively in my Powerpoint hyperlinks with the required format of [document path]#[bookmark name] so that the reader can link to specific pages in a companion Word document.
About two weeks ago, all of the bookmarks mysteriously disappeared! The address of the document remains (i.e., [document path]) and activating the hyperlink still opens the document, but only to its first page. Testing shows that the bookmarks are initially stored and still work. But when I close and reopen the Powerpoint document, the bookmarks, but not the document paths, are all gone!!!! I am suspicious that the problem is a bug or new security feature that came with a recent update. Any help would be VERY much appreciated. |

It's definitely a bug but I don't know when it dates from. Since it affects 2007 too I would have thought it was always there. Are you sure it worked after saving before.
I have reported it BTW. |

I am certain that the bookmarks worked a month ago. I also notice that several updates were loaded since. I suspect that the problem is in one of the updates.
I have also discovered a work around: Save the document in the old ppt format. Hopefully, this bug will be fixed soon! |

Any progress in getting this bug fixed? I use lots of links to bookmarks for a class that I teach.

None at all. I've pored over TOC Tip and Tricks and cannot make it work.
I have attached a doc showing my need. 1. inhibit the contents line so it doesn't show during update. 2. pull the bookmarked part titles onto the line "Part x." 3. pull the bookmarked titles on the line "Chapter x." 4. inhibit page numbering for the Part x items only. I have been having problems getting switches to work in my field codes. It's my first attempt. My chapters are bookmarked C01,C02, etc. The parts are P01,P02, etc. Seems simple enough. Any help will be appreciated. |
