Do the "dark" slides have a different custom layout?

Could there be an animation on the layout that darkens the background for example?

It would probably help if you could post an affected slide somewhere/

I just looked through again to see whether I could see a common thread and noticed that the slides that are doing that are the verticals and the slides with text only. All of the horizontal images are fine. Any suggestions were to post a slide?
