In older versions of Word, your autotext entries worked in either Word or Outlook. Now they don't.
I finally figured out that I have to select Save in: Normal.dotm when I create an autotext entry in Word. I thought that these entries would carry over to Outlook because they were now in the global template, but they do not. I couldn't find an Add-Ins option in Outlook to attach a template. How do you make sure your autotext entries work in Outlook as well? Is normal.dotm NOT the global template for Outlook? If not, what is? |

Okay. I tried overwriting the email template, NormalEmail.dotm, with my normal.dotm. It still doesn't work, even though all of my macros and autotext are in that template, and I verified that the file was the correct number of KBs.
This appears to be broken because it worked for years and years, and I cannot IMAGINE that Microsoft would deliberately hose a feature that was perfect in its previous form. I have hundreds of form letters set up as autotext entries in Word that I also need to use in Outlook, but I cannot in Office 2007. I do not wish to replicate these in two separate programs, particularly since I wouldn't have to in Word 2003, Word 2000, and earlier versions. If it's broken, does Microsoft have plans to fix it???? Does it work in Office 2010???? Thank you. |
