Default Help With Auto-Responder Please

Hi,
Is it possible to have an auto-responder which works regardless of whether the user is logged into the account or not? Like an Out of Office but without saying "Out of Office" on the auto-responder message?
The only way I can see of doing it is to keep a machine on constantly with the user logged in - which isn't practical.

Reason for this is so we can have a "Thanks for your contacting us - We'll get back to you within x hours" sort of reply.

Thank you,

N.

Well unless it is server side you will need to have a mail client running 24/7.

Server side you can do it 2 ways. You can use a third party software like Exclaimer or using the rules.dll.

Here is a great article for using rules.dll:

Nejo,

To add to this post, unless you are on an Exchange Platform 2010, you will need to have a client active to auto reply using Outlook.

Best Regards,

Hope this helps

We have no proper access server side as our Exchange email is hosted for us (FastHosts) so I guess we've no choice but to have a client continually active for this to work for us then?

Thanks for all replies.

Just to add to SpiderTech's comment, you can create server-side rules through Outlook if you're on Exchange 2007 server as well as Exchange 2010, as long as you are connecting using an RPC over HTTP connection. To make the rule server-side, you basically just have to remove the "On this computer only" condition.

Hope this helps.
