I have several email accounts which all are forward to a gmail account. I have Outlook 2007 retrieve each email from the gmail server. When they arrive, a rule checks the messages and places the messages in certain folders. The rule checks the email address to which the email was sent to perform this operation. To read them I simply click on the folder containing new messages and view each as I wish.
The problem that I am having is that when I reply to one of these messages, it uses my gmail account "reply-to" information. I would like to set Outlook to either go by the folder and reply with the appropriate email address or go off of the email address to which the email was sent. This seems easy enough but I cannot find instructions on how to do this. I can do it manually each time but, in the heat of things, sometimes I forget. Any help is appreciated. |

Isutiger89,
When sending any message, you are only allowed to send as SMTP addresses you have configured in your Outlook profile. This means if you have 2 accounts, say gmail and a yahoo account, you will only be allowed to send as these accounts. Outlook does not have an automatic function that will allow you to send as the received address especially with a profile configured with multiple accounts. However, outlook does allow you to set one as a default, this will be the one that is selected as the Primary SMTP address and used to send each time. Any other accounts will have to be manually chosen. *** You can set up rules to automatically reply using a template response. This however does not sound exactly what you are asking for. Any other rule construction to reply directly to any email scenario will use the defaulted email address. Hope this helps. |
