My Outlook PST file has now grown to nearly 4GB. I have deleted tons of stuff, emptied the deleted items mailbox, and I have done a Compact Now on the PST file a few times, but the file size never gets smaller. It just keeps growing in size instead. My guess is that it shouldn't even be 1GB at this point. Is there some easy thing I can do to rebuild the file using just the emails, contacts, and folders I want to keep so that the file runs smoothly and is optimized down to its proper size? Cheers. Marc

Try an export to .PST and check the file size. If it is smaller you can create a new profile and import it back in. If you do an export and it is the same size and you are sure something is not right you can run the inbox repair tool to attempt to correct any corruption.

As long as you didn't delete any of your contacts, they will be there. When you export/import your information, it includes your contacts as well.

Thanks Shawn. I have been working with the new PST file I created for a few days now and all seems to be in order. Contacts and everything. Good stuff. I am happy my PST file is down to a normal size again of under 1GB.
