using outlook 2007.
I created a rather large zip file of pictures (65M) that I attached to an email. The email is now in my outbox and Outlook keeps trying to send the email. I have tried to delete the email but I get a message that Outlook has started the sending process so it can't be deleted. Really would like to delete this but can't. Don't think this is causing a problem since it has been going on for the last couple of weeks. Sometimes I try to delete this and I get NO response. How can I delete this file. Thanks in advance |

This is a great forum -- looked at a similar posting a few days ago with the same problem and the solution fixed my problems also.
Thanks |

Aiken_Bob,
The message attachment may be to large to transfer through your email provider. This might have caused the message to remain in your outbox. You will need to change your Outlook to offline mode, restart outlook, then you should have the ability to remove the message. Hope this helps. |

many thanks -- I was looking at the forum and it appears that a similar problem occurs about once a week. You would think the folks that designed this would have put in some logic that looked at the size of the attachment and then provided some options.
thanks again for the prompt response. |

Well its not Outlook that desides weatehr or not an attachment is to large, rather your ISP and or mail provider. My exchange provider allocates 50 MB for attachments internally..i do believe if you went with Microsoft cloud they have higher limits.
Glad the issue was resolved. |

I have the same problem with a draft with 30mb attached.
try turn the Outlook to Offline and delete the draft but it ask me to tun it on again. if i don't, it just has another option to cancel that task. so here is the solution, very simple: 1.double click in that draft or email you want to delete (outbox) 2.remove the attachments 3.save it as draft again 4.simply delete it. 5.done btw i'm using outlook 2011 on Mac OS X |

Sizaus,
Outlook 2011 uses the EWS, Exchange Web Services, and could be a different MB attachment limit. regardless, your email provider is the one that dictates the amount allowable for transfer. Here is a list of file attachments that are blocked by Outlook. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...003085004.aspx Hope this helps. |
