Default Rules don't run when screen is locked

I have a few rules set up to delete certain messages as they arrive and send vacation responses. Unfortunately they won't run while the screen is locked. When I return I have to run the rule manually and it works fine. It works automatically while I'm working on the machine.

I'm not seeing anyone else complain about this problem.
Any ideas how to get it to work when locked? I can't leave my workstation unprotected when I'm gone.

What's your email server? This should be done on the server side, the sender will get immediate auto response, and you don't have to download the emails at all.

They should be done on the server side as well, IMO. If your email has a web interface, look into it, it might be more useful than you think.

Yes, perhaps. I'm looking for a fix though. Not a work-around.
I would like to use the rules function in Outlook.

Thanks for trying.

Locking Windows stops all processes and threads until it is unlocked. If the Outlook rules are set to run client-side (which they must if you are not connected to an Exchange server), then there is simply no way for a rule to run when no processes can run in locked mode. It's not a lack of functionality in Outlook. It's how the lock feature works in Windows.

OK. That kind of makes sense. Strange though since other programs continue to run. We will be switching from IMAP to Exchange in a few months so I'll look forward to being able to use the rules in the future.

Thanks.
